Handcrafted Sapele Wood Bread Box with Crumb-catching Tray

An artisanal, heirloom-quality bread box handcrafted from beautiful Sapele wood, featuring a gracefully curved profile and a traditional roll-top door accented with decorative knobs. The rich reddish-brown tones, beautiful grain patterns, and natural character of the Sapele give this particular bread box its own distinctive appearance.

Durable interlocking tambour construction: The roll-top door is made from individually crafted, interlocking wooden tambour slats. Their interlocking construction is an important durability feature, and each slat is precisely crafted to ensure the door travels smoothly along the curved tambour track.

Removable cutting and crumb-catching tray: This bread box features a convenient removable wooden tray that serves as both a bread-cutting surface and a crumb catcher. Its slotted cutting insert allows crumbs to fall through into the tray beneath, helping keep countertops cleaner while slicing bread. The insert can be lifted out to empty accumulated crumbs, and the entire tray can be easily removed from the bread box for use and cleaning.

Thoughtfully engineered for durability and longevity: Discreet openings at the lower rear corners of the bread box provide access to the tambour door tracks, allowing the door to be removed in the unlikely event that future maintenance or repair becomes necessary. These openings also allow a small amount of airflow within the bread box, helping to reduce trapped moisture that could otherwise encourage mold growth on stored bread.

Beautifully finished inside and out: The bread box is finished with Dark Odie's Oil on both the interior and exterior surfaces. This finish deepens the natural wood color upon application, with a darkening effect that continues to develop over time. Odie's Oil is a non-toxic, solvent-free hardwax oil made from a modified and enhanced tung oil blend combined with natural essential oils and waxes. Marketed as food-safe, it enhances the natural beauty of the wood while providing a protective finish throughout the piece.

Approximate interior dimensions: 13½ inches long × 9½ inches deep × 7¼ inches high, measured to the top of the innermost edge of the tambour groove.
